Experience and Background

As someone originally from Zeeland, I explored various studies and careers before discovering the profession that truly fits me. I’ve always loved working with people, had a strong passion for language, and felt motivated to do something meaningful.

Throughout my studies and early career, I saw how essential language is for connection, independence, and confidence, especially for newcomers in the Netherlands. When I discovered NT2 education (Dutch as a Second Language), everything fell into place.

This field is a perfect match for who I am:

✔️ language-focused;

✔️ patient;

✔️ curious about other cultures;

✔️ motivated to help people grow and feel at home in the Netherlands.

From the moment I started teaching Dutch, I knew: this is my profession.

My path to Tijd voor Taal in Utrecht

I earned my Certified NT2 Teacher qualification at the University of Amsterdam in 2009.

Since then, I have taught Dutch to highly educated internationals, expats, and professionals in both private lessons and small-group courses. With five years of experience in the Blik op Werk quality system, I have worked at several language schools throughout North Holland and Zeeland.

These insights helped me understand what truly works in Dutch language education and what doesn’t.

Why small-group Dutch lessons work best

At many larger language schools, I saw the same challenges again and again.

In big classes, students often receive:

🔵 too little personal guidance;

🔵 too little speaking time;

🔵 less interaction and a lower sense of safety.

That’s why I created Tijd voor Taal in Zeeland, a language school focused on small, effective Dutch classes for a maximum of four students.

Small groups result in:

✔️ progress;

✔️ confidence;

✔️more speaking practice;

✔️ personal feedback;

✔️ safe, motivating learning environment.

This approach makes it easier for my students to learn Dutch quickly, naturally, and with pleasure.
